It is important to clarify that neither the Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) nor the UK Department for Education (DfE) holds any governance or regulatory authority over British Schools Overseas (BSO), including those that are members of AoBSO.

Each BSO-accredited school operates independently and is governed by its own leadership and management structures.

As such, AoBSO and the DfE are not responsible for the day-to-day management, decision-making, or internal policies of any BSO school. While BSO accreditation involves inspection against rigorous standards approved by the DfE and monitored by Ofsted, it does not confer regulatory control over schools.

If a parent, guardian, or stakeholder has a concern or complaint regarding a BSO school, the matter should be addressed directly with the school in accordance with the school’s published complaints procedure. All BSO-accredited schools are required to have a formal complaints policy in place, which outlines how concerns will be handled and resolved at the school level.

Should you need guidance in locating a school's complaints policy, we recommend visiting the school’s official website or contacting the school administration directly.
